NEW YEARS EVE, Motion Skatepark, Bristol
The night is almost upon us, the ring is going up, and holy jesus mother… off the hook is a serious understatement! Not only will we be hosting the usual best-party-you’ve-ever-been-to, we’ve also got the legendary Deekline whose booty break beats have been played incessantly by Stashwell since The Dance-Off’s very beginnings. And if you’re in need of some dutch courage before showing us your moves, we’re giving away complimentary shots of tasty cherry bourbon, courtesy of Red Stag. Could you wish for anything more? Yes? Maybe one thing?Oh yes… and we’re going to be tearing off our trousers at midnight, in the world’s first ever New Years Eve pants off flashmob! Don’t forget your rip-off tracksuit.

Stashwell’s Friends

Following the tragic death of our DJ Stashwell, we’ve collated the best tributes here. Never ever in the history of the world has a group of friends been quite as incredible as this lot. In light of this, Dance-Off are dedicating this whole entry to the insane volume of love in the room - we are just one big (incredibly sexy) family. www.iheartstashwell.com

1) Stashwell Mural, Stoke’s Croft (Tom Ling)

2) Human Stashwell tribute, Fleet

3) Custom Stashwell VW Campervan (Smiler)

Andy Smiler’s amazing VW camper with custom ‘Stashwell’ lettering. Unfortunately he neglected basic other requirements, such as health and safety, and one of his wheels actually rolled off. Nevertheless a pretty tasty bit of engine.

R.I.P StashwellOn the 29th September we tragically lost the youngest of Dance-Off’s Greek trio, Bristol’s no. 1 local legend and overall hunk, the incredible DJ Stashwell. Not a day goes by that we don’t miss the sunshine he brought to our lives; his megawatt grin, his warmth, his quick wit and acidic put-downs, his ability to make friends everywhere and the fun that was guaranteed by his mere presence. His short 22 years were lived to the absolute max and it has been said that in a normal person’s entire lifetime they may not laugh as much or make as many people laugh as Tom did. We have been overwhelmed by the hundreds of tributes and messages, celebrating how ridiculously incredible he really was.
Words cannot describe how much we miss him, but in spirit he’ll be with us until the last memory fades - at every dance-off, in every bottle of bub, every hot tub, in every summer’s day down St Andrews and in every laughter-accompanied nosebleed caused by collapsing leapfrog.
And as for the rest of you, I can only encourage you all to recklessly graffiti your body with Stashwell tattoos. Be creative, and most of all please email us with photos.

 Tributes -
4,000 people raising the heavens for Tom in Bath
Three tattoos and counting
A tribute mix from Brock Out
2 radio tribute shows from Bristol legends Carasel & T-Sex and The Asbo Disco

Roll up, roll up, we’re teaming up with that badman tune-spinner Asbo Disco to put on our first ever event in Bristol, supported by Red Stag. Trinity Centre, 8th October, with none other than…. the Correspondents!! Oh my God! Could you think of a better combination of acts if you tried? Could you think of a better venue, or a better way to spank your student loan? We have been trying to coax Mr Bruce into having a Dance-Off for a while now, so fingers crossed this is the night that peer pressure gets him. Tickets are £10 in advance from Bristol Ticket Shop. Don’t miss this!Click the flyer to go to the Facebook event.

THE BOOMTOWN FAIR -
Boomtown really blew us away this year. Since it’s humble beginnings under the new name in 2009, the festival has doubled in size and amazingness each year; and this summer was no exception. With a bit of vac-form magic the whole place was turned into a credible, slightly creepy town, taking cues from the genii who put together Shangri-la and Block 9 at Glastonbury. This year the site changed to the Bowl in Winchester; a picturesque, bowl-shaped crater in the landscape.
As for the Dance-Off? We had our first ever mainstage slot! We pitched Boomtown Site Manager Annabel against our unbeaten champion Shakira/Beyonce’s Home Video who you might remember from Secret Garden and Glade. He bought a Boomtown ticket soley to defend his Dance-Off title - that’s true dedication!
